The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has an opening for a Multi-media Editor. We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team of editors and reporters to produce exclusive content for our website and apps.
Under deadline in a complex, sometimes fast-paced environment, the editor will continuously monitor news outlets, wire services and video syndicates and work closely with our staff to produce creative, timely and accurate videos and multimedia packages for online use.
The person will review story budgets for potential multimedia pairing opportunities and work with editors to acquire appropriate media elements.
The multimedia news editor will gather video, photos, audio, graphics and data from various sources to combine into news-worthy videos to compliment coverage.
Skills: Must be exceptionally skilled at shooting video and using video editing software such as iMovie, Final Cut or Adobe Premier. Must be familiar with the Indesign, Photoshop and the Macintosh OS and able to learn newsroom systems including the Ellington Content Management System and the NewsEngin editorial system. Must be proficient with AP style and familiar with HTML and online publishing techniques.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism preferred but appropriate professional experience may be deemed a acceptable substitute.
Experience: A minimum of three (2) years of on-the-job experience at a daily newspaper, news oriented website or a directly related field is required.
